Royal Ascot 2022

Going update after racing on day two

The going at Ascot is Good to Firm.

Ascot’s Clerk of the Course, Chris Stickels, said: “It is much the same as yesterday – we’ve had just over 3mm of evapotranspiration today, so we are going to do the same as last night and put on 4mm of water.

“The false rail that was in place from nine furlongs out to the home bend will come down, providing fresh ground for tomorrow. The rails will then stay as they are for the remaining three days.

“There is a risk of storms for Saturday but, at the moment, they are suggesting they might be a bit later than racing. We will just keep an eye on it.”
